An older house is a home with a history and a story to tell. You can feel it when you walk in the front door. Hannah's House is one of those houses. But the family that owns this house, is a young one. They originally lived on the street, one of the Methow Valley's historic neighborhoods. Life changed, they moved away, but continued visiting the neighborhood and their new-found friends. The house went for sale and the neighbors called. New chapter. New remodel.
The original farmhouse was smaller, with layers of changes added over the decades as families grew. The main floor has a living/dining space, kitchen, full bath, and king-bed bedroom, with a deck that leads outside to the side and back yard. Upstairs are two rooms-a queen bedroom, and a walk-through sitting room/office with a single futon couch.
The house was built by the river over a hundred years ago. A high-water dike was constructed between the house and the river in order to protect the neighborhood from flooding. You can get to the river-it's all public access behind the house, with a small beach. The path is not accessible for people with mobility challenges.
If you choose, it is a short walk to town. Just down the street and across the bridge, and you're there. Perfect for Farmer's Market on Saturday, dinner at Tappi's or lunch and smoothies at Glover Street Market.
